Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m Zoë! I grew up in Bellingham then quickly found my way out the Mt. Baker Highway to Glacier where I’ve been for the last 10 years or so.
I love snowboarding, skateboarding, mountain biking, currently trying to figure out how to surf, hunting for wild edibles and making art.
Where's your favorite place to ride that isn't in Washington, and why?
I do a vast majority of my riding in Washington and I love the mountains here. That being said, British Columbia has so much epic terrain and easy access that it’s probably my second favorite.
What's your biggest snow related goal for 2020?
I grew up riding big mountain and backcountry and wasn’t really surrounded by the park scene. So as tough as it is to learn in my late 20’s, one of my big goals right now is to get more comfortable hitting jumps and diversify my bag of tricks. That and figuring out my snowmobile.
How do you like to spend your time off the mountain?
I’ve gotten really into skateboarding the last few years and love the feeling of spending the time to learn something new at the skatepark. Also trying to bike more cause it feels like its does my body more good than the pain that skating often inflicts (plus it’s hecka fun). I also love experimenting in my kitchen, dehydrating fruit, fermenting food and canning things.
Why is massage important to you?
I do so many sports that are hard on my body, especially board sports that are asymmetrical. Massage helps address those tight areas that I can’t just stretch out and even out the asymmetry of standing sideways. Massage helps me keep doing the activities I love to do.
What do you do for self-care?
I stretch a lot. If I go without stretching for a few days I really feel my body start to tense up and I don’t perform as well. I also try to eat a balanced diet to fuel my activities.
Give us a good quote, something that describes you?
Not letting fear be a roadblock has probably been the biggest factor in any milestone accomplishments in my life.
